Lotus Blossom Again

The card that I am sharing today, was the result of numerous stamp offs from the Lotus Blossom stamp set.  If you had a chance to see my post from yesterday, you saw that I had several colors of the blossom on different cards.  Well, each color has a stamp off of color and when I saw what they looked like, I decided to make a card out of it!  Why not!  If you aren't sure what I am referring to, there are some wonderful tutes on the web regarding how to stamp the Blossom.  Let me know if you have questions.  Thanks for looking...Until next time,

Lotus Blossom, take 1, 2 3!

I have fallen in love with the Sale-a-bration set Lotus Blossom!  It is a 3 step stamp that gives really beautiful results!  I haven't said that about a 2 or 3 step stamp set in awhile..  So I have thr wee different takes on it!!  Well acutally four, but will share that another day!
First up a card that just kind of came together.  A lot of times, I will have a vision of what I want the card to look like, but then the end result is usually better. Go figure!!  Anyways, below is a card I want to share that was fairly simple to put together.  The blossom is stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink.  The original card that I wanted to share did not have the ink around the blossom, but as fate would have it, I accidentally got some ink on the white paper, so just tried to cover up with the ink.  With that being said, I like it better!!
Next up with the Lotus Blossom, I needed a couple of gifts so made a gift box of cards and then used the new gift bag thinlit to hold some cute thank you note cards made with the Lotus Blossom Stamp set.
What I love so much about this stamp set is how easily you can get images that look like a lot of work but really aren't.  Hope this will give you some ideas.  Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for looking.  Until next time,
Hugs,
Alicia

Beautiful Butterfly

This particular card came about from my desire to experiment with texture paste.  I saw a card that looks basically like this on Pinterest and liked the texture so decided to give it a try.  This is the result!!  I really like it.  I used the butterfly framelit that is from the Occasions Catalog.  While it is currently unavailable, I hope that Stampin Up will be able to get some back in stock for the ones of you that don't yet have it.  I die cut the butterfly out of some sturdy kraft cardstock, then used the cutout to fill in with the texture paste.  Love how it turned out!  You could even color the texture paste it you wanted to have a colorful butterfly!!  Hope you like.  Any questions, please let me know.
Thanks for visiting..Until next time,
Alicia

With all my Heart

As I was going through some of my older stamps trying to decide what to keep and what to sell, I ran across this stamp set that I hadn't seen in ages and decided I wanted to use it one more time.  The bright colors came about from the need to have something bright in my room during some really dreary days of winter.  I love all these bright colors of spring!  And of course, had to add some butterflies!  This is going to be a gift so I made a "pocketbook" style card holder for the cards.
Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time,

Butterflies

OK anyone who knows me, knows that I love butterflies for a very special reason.  So you can imagine my delight or rather my"squeal" of delight when I saw the Butterfly Basics stamp set on page 26 of the Occasions Catalog!  I really love it and all the possibilities that can happen with the stamps in it.  My first card (definitely not my last)with this stamp set stems from my curiosity about how to use the coordinating Butterflies Thinlits die. I saw on the web that if you use a dryer sheet and wax paper, the little pieces in the die just fall out, so I tried it and it works like a charm.  Here is the sandwich for your Big Shot, bottom up---Magnetic Platform, 1 dryer sheet unfolded, cardstock, wax paper, thinlit, sandwich.  Then I wanted a kind of collage type card so I stamped different stamps on the front.  Well, I really liked the wax paper butterfly and wanted to use it for some dimension on the front.  Then I decided I wanted to try out using some texture paste colored with ink refill.  Sooo...I used the cardstock cutout as a mask to apply the paste and then took the wax paper butterfly and laid it on top of the paste. Then low and behold, my card came together.  I really like the Naturals cardstock for this also.  Anyways, hope you like and maybe be inspired to make some of your own.  If so, please share!  Would love to see.  Thanks for stopping by, if any questions, please let me know.

Thinking of You

I needed a quick card for a friend so since I still had the Sheltering Tree stamp set on my desk I decided to use it.  I also had a chance to play with the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Paper in the Sale-a-bration Catalog.  I love this paper and how you can color on it and the background paper design shows through!  What is even better is you can get it free with a $50.00 order during this Sale-a-bration sales period.   Even colored it for the envelope liner for the card!
Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time...

Sheltering Trees

If you have had a chance to browse through the Occasions Catalog, then you have seen this stamp set on page 22.  I love the fact that you can build a scene with any parts you want, use any colors, any layout...kind of like paper dolls but with stamps!
For the ones I did above, I more or less followed the examples in the catalog just to try them out, then I put all four in a 6x8 plastic sleeve with the top folded over with ribbons to use like a gift!
Hope you like.  Thanks for stopping by..Until next time...

Valentine Treats

Happy Valentine's!
Hope you are getting some Valentine love from whoever is special in your life today.  I made some really cute little treat bags with the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlit die that is in the new Occasions Catalog and the darling accessories that were in the January Paper Pumpkin kit.  If you haven't tried the Paper Pumpkin each month, you are truly missing a treat with all the fun and great things that come right to you door every month.  If you are interested, click on the Paper Pumpkin icon on the right side of the blog and learn how fun this can be!  On with the treat bags, I made several and sent them to grandchildren and great grandchildren since they were so easy to make.  I used the note cards as the cards.  They fit nicely into the treat bag along with a sweet little treat tucked inside! Hope  you enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time,

Watercolor Hearts

In another life, I used to paint pictures on canvas and loved it!!  However, through time, I moved away from doing it and got involved in scrapbooking and then paper creations.  For some reason, I felt the need to pick up my watercolor paper and brushes again  So the card below is the result!  The hearts on the cards are free hand. A little free hand heart is always fun!  I used SU watercolor paper and red re inker.  By limiting the amount of water you use, you can control the deeper colors and the lighter colors.  I then put a window sheet on top after the hearts had dried and stamped in Stazon ink the With Love sentiment.  Added a little real red ribbon and there you go!  Hope you like..

Heartfelt

This card came about due to my wanting to play with some texture paste and color.  I used the Heart mask that is found in the regular catalog along with the stars mask on page 205.  If you haven't played with these masks you are missing a treat!  They are so much better than some I have used in the past.  So onto how I did this...I dropped a few drops of red reinker into some texture paste.  Mixed it up and then applied it to the whisper white card stock through the heart mask.  I am not sure that the picture does this justice, but in person it has a raised heart that is shiny.  For the descending hearts,

I used the Heart Framelits on real red card stock.  The largest heart is heat embossed in red, the middle one is left as is, and the smaller one I put some crystal effects on it and let it dry to give it a shiny look.   I was really pleased with how it turned out.  If you have any questions, please leave me a comment and I will be happy to help!  Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time,  Hugs,
Alicia

Happy Hearts!

Wow!!  Where has time gone??  It is really slipping by fast for me.  Can't believe it is already almost Valentine's and I haven't even shared my Valentines yet!  So for the next four days, I am going to try and get what I made this year for Valentines posted.  I also have been busy making some cool things from the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-bration Catalog that I will share next week:).
So first up is a card that I came up with after seeing that the new little heart punch matches the Happy Hearts textured embossing folder in the Occasions Catalog!  How cool is that?  Well, I thought so, so this is the card I came up with.  Pretty simple, right?
Next up is a card that I saw on Pinterest and changed it up to make it mine!  Again a pretty simple card but still fun to make with the silver sequins floating around!  Different colors for Valentines, but hey, anything goes when you are making pretties!  Hope you like my shares. Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, Hugs ,

Pizza Box w/note cards

Thought I would start the week out with a quick little tut that may jump start you creative juices!
The cute little pizza box is such a nice little box to hold some 3x3 note cards.  The box can actually be adjusted to fit larger square cards but for the sake of this tut, it is to hold 2x2 or 3x3 cards.
So let's get started..
You will need a 6x11 inch piece of paper
On the 11 inch side, score on the 1, 5, 6, and 10 inch line
then turn on the 6 inch side score at 1 and 5 inch score line
cut the 1 5 6 10 lines to center for tabs to construct the box.  It is actually very simple and easy to do and you can decorate the front any way you want.
I used the Boutique Borders stamp set.

The sentiments are from the Four You stamp set.
This is just a cute little hostess gift.

Awesomeness

I love how this message just makes you feel good!  I needed a card to send to a very special person, so this is what I did. The stamp set is Big News. A very versatile stamp set with lots of sayings that can be used over and over again.  I have a soft suede card base that was partially embossed with the lovely lace embossing folder.  I then added some dsp moolnlight series dsp.  I stamped the sentiment onto whisper white card stock and then cut out a tag with the tag punch.  The rest is just putting it together and adding some ribbon and gold glitter paper.

Back to Black

I used the Back to Black dsp on this card along with making an envelope liner also.
The basic card is black.  I used the Arrows Embossing folder on it.  Then  layered some of the dsp.  The stamp set that I used is A Happy Hooray.  I cut out the flowers and feathers with on of the starburst framelits. Added some daffodil delight ribbon and a Thanks stamp and it is done!
Hope you enjoy!
Until next time,
Alicia

a little kindness....

When I first saw this stamp set last year in the Catalog, I knew it was going to have a home with me!
On this card, I knew I wanted to layer some of the stamps so I started with the large sun image.  I stamped it in Early Espresso.  The leafy image was layered on using Old Olive. I then cut a piece of whisper white c/s and splattered it with real red ink in a spritzer.  I then added a kraft colored washi tape down the center.  I cut the leaves out and rolled one in real red and the other in a darker green. I stamped the sentiment on whisper white c/s and cut out and then adhered it to the front along the the butterfly and some sequins scattered around.  I split up the sentiment by using markers to color which part I wanted for each sentiment placement.
Hope you like!  Thanks for stopping by,

Alicia

Choose Happiness

I love the title of this stamp set and thought it would be appropriate to share for the beginning of a New Year since this is what my resolution for this year is to choose to be happy as often as I can!  So here is a card that I made to help me remember....I did do something kind of cool with the Typeset dsp.  Since I have had a bottle of gesso sitting on my desk for quite a while, I decided to paint the typeset paper on the front and then make an envelope with some of the painted dsp also.  Think I might use this more often!  Thanks for stopping by. Until next time,
Hugs,
Alicia
